I do believe that 5-Star DT Trent Thompson will earn a shot to play early and often in Athens once he arrives on campus. His approch is devastating at the point of attack and presents a hugh mismatch for interior linemen because of his combination of his explosive first step and power.
He is a very smart football player. Absorbing what to do and where to line up will be one of the obstacle Thompson will face and that could keep him out of the starting lineup early in the season.
As the season progresses, I expect the Albany native to be making plays in 2015. He's already shown what he can do against major competition when he dominated during U.S. Army All-American week back in January. Now he just has to take the coaching and put it all together in a new scheme. I have doubt the Damn Good Dawg will be ready to tee it up Between The Hedges.
Thompson is a gap destroyer up the middle. Depth isn’t a concern with seniors Sterling Bailey and Josh Dawson at the ends protected by several underclassmen, but without a proven playmaker up front, Thompson’s could ascend to just that.
